What is the best time to visit Gatlinburg?
The best time to visit Gatlinburg depends on what you are looking for. With so many family-friendly attractions, the summer can get pretty busy. But it is an exciting time to enjoy the mountains with cooler temps hiking at higher elevations. Gatlinburg in the fall is also extremely gorgeous with the Smoky Mountains busting into a rainbow of all foliage. Of course, spending a weekend in Gatlinburg, Tennessee in the winter can be pretty magical too.
Is it expensive to visit Gatlinburg?
With an abundance of tourist attractions, it can be expensive to visit Gatlinburg. That’s not to say there aren’t plenty of low-cost or no-cost activities, like hiking and exploring some of the beautiful natural areas in this charming mountain town. If you plan on taking in some of the many paid activities in Gatlinburg, expect to budget at least $100 to $150 per person for each day of your vacation.
Is it better to stay in Gatlinburg or Pigeon Forge?
Choosing to stay in Gatlinburg or Pigeon Forge is based on several factors. Since they are so close in proximity, travel time to your favorite attractions isn’t as big of an issue, however the cost might be. Pigeon Forge is generally quieter and less expensive than the epicenter of activity in Gatlinburg. Gatlinburg is a very walkable town, however, so getting around is pretty easy. Since these two charming towns are only five miles apart finding lodging in one town while traveling to the other is certainly a good option.
