RV road-tripper shares travel tips for Black families

Kay Apkan acquired a terrible emotion from the RV park her spouse and children pulled into in Galveston, Texas.

Having traveled across the place entire time since 2020, the Apkans were made use of to being the only Black people in some places, but this time felt diverse.

“It felt very daunting,” she explained, recalling the “funny stares” they received as Confederate flags flew from RVs and golfing carts nearby.

She concerned about her son Aiden, who likes to go exploring on his bike.

“In a spot like that … what if he rides someplace and any person appeared at him and thinks that he stated anything or did a little something, then made a decision to consider issues into their have hands?” Apkan said, fearing “an Emmett Until situation.”
